HIGH SCHOOL MATH PLACEMENT POLICY

In response to Senate Bill No. 359, AIMS College Prep High School (AIMS HS) has developed “a fair, objective, and transparent mathematics placement policy” for pupils entering 9th Grade beginning with the 2016-17 school year.  It is the intent for all students to matriculate into high school fully prepared to take Geometry and beyond.  For these reasons and as a matter of equity, AIMS HS does not offer placement criteria for students to become enrolled in their math classes.

Instead, as part of the AIMS Model, AIMS HS will utilize every effort to accelerate advanced students, while simultaneously providing critical interventions and support to students with significant gaps in their historic math performance.  AIMS will meet students where they are at to mitigate math frustration levels and to ensure that 100% of its students achieve academic mastery in their math courses.
